RED Day: Volunteering And Giving Back In Our Community
This year's RED Day project stood on shaky grounds because there were not enough volunteers signed up to get all the projects done.
- Sarasota-Bradenton, FL (1888PressRelease) May 25, 2016 - John Buetergerds of the Buetergerds Team at Keller Williams Realty Select spearheaded this year's RED Day project and managed it from beginning to end. Months of finding suitable non-profit, dreaming the project up and organizing it from the beginning to the end took a lot of time out of John Buetergerds' busy schedule but the result was well worth it! A well deserving organization, Learn to Fish Recovery, was looking much more like a home when the agents and vendors of Keller Williams Realty Select were done. However, it didn't look like the project would be such a great success throughout the entire planning process. The final meeting of John and a few other agents that were heading different projects revealed that there were a lot less agents signed up to volunteer than everybody expected. Was this project going to be a bust?
Keller Williams' agents from around the world close their offices one day of the year and give back to their communities. This day is called "RED" Day which stands for Renew - Energize - Donate. Agents from across the world look forward to this annual event and prepare many months in advance for it. The local Keller Williams Realty Select office chose to give back to the Learn to Fish Recovery.
John Buetergerds took on the responsibility to take on this large project and ensure its success. With the help of a few key players who each managed and prepared a certain aspect of the project and well over 90 volunteers that helped do the work on RED Day, the day turned into an incredible success. There were twice as many volunteers than initially thought and everybody enjoyed spending time to help this great organization. Volunteers planted flowers and shrubs around the facility, mulched the flower beds, painted play sets, laid a paver walkway and large patio area, dug a long trench to create a French drain, donated toiletry items, a shed, outdoor furniture, tile, and many other items that were needed to repair issues within the home and improve the exterior. As in previous years Scott Paint donated all the paint that was needed for the project. Other vendors and generous donors outside the Keller Williams Office were A&B Property Services, The Insurance Man & Company, and Samantha Kay Interiors. This project would have been unsuccessful but thanks to the Keller Williams' culture and the help of everybody involved, this project was completed and a success.
The Buetergerds Team feels it is important to give back to the community and enjoys volunteering their time. There are many worthy causes and this project was extra special because of the big impact Keller Williams Realty Select was able to make.
