- (1888PressRelease) June 25, 2011 - With twenty-six days to go to achieve their goal, long-time radio personality Jimi "Cheetah" Bruce is undaunted and still motivated to funding the short movie "Cafe` Skype". http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cafeskype/cafe-skype-a-lil-multicultural-love-overcomes-obst Mr. Bruce is again using all of his acumen under one umbrella and needing funders for his latest project .
"We do not want to lose steam now," he said of the campaign now in its second month. "I keep feeling that maybe it is likely someone or something will bless us and allow fulfillment of this film our union."He mused. Bruce does not suffer from burnout and is optimistic that his core trio will obtain the eight-thousand-nine-hundred-ninety ($8,990) dollars in funding for the Kickstarter project. Endorsed by videographer, creator of candidcareer.com, Billy Glading, "Cafe` Skype" is a cautionary tale for governments over-zealously and unevenly making it difficult for people of differnt countries to travel and get-together. "I think [we] have something here," Glading commented. "Something that people can relate to, and would enjoy watching..."
The story depicts the travails of Nina & Naphtali who see their imminent plans for a second in-person meeting within the past year postponed indefinitely when, in-addition to the "silly" Ukraine visa rules, Naphtali's home state pulls-out "interest"on a decades-old old tax that he had paid-in-full, to block his first-ever passport to travel, marry her and work. The disappointment to both characters are heartbreaking.
These are not some young kids, this is a middle-aged couple who connected long enough to exchange e-mail addresses in the spring of 2010, in a supermarket during Nina's only brief visit to the U.S.A, who used Skype, the newest tool in on-line communication to solidify their mutual attraction so successfully that they named it a "Cafe" where they met several times weekly." Jimi explains.
The two-man production shop looks to build upon the one pledge they have thus-far immediately. "Funders" are sought for the final scenes of the film short as well as travel, a narrator and camera person.
