Real Estate Performance Coach and Investor Jerry Malcolm Partners with Former T-Mobile CEO to Launch Foundation to Help Inner-City Kids
Former kickboxer Malcolm set to launch the 7th Round Foundation in early 2023, helping to arm kids with the championship mindset so they can beat the odds.
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2022 - Jerry Malcolm has already made his mark in the real estate and coaching world, but he is, as he says, “On a mission to help some kids!” The real estate investor is ready to give back in a big way with the 2023 launch of the 7th Round Foundation, which will give hope and opportunities to underprivileged kids who grew up, just like he did, in the ghettos of Los Angeles.
Partnering with Malcolm is billionaire and former T-Mobile CEO John Legere, who has generously provided funding to get the foundation going. Real estate billionaire and influencer Grant Cardone has also played a pivotal role in Malcolm’s life and work. The three met on social app Clubhouse.
“I never dreamed that I would get to partner with guys of this caliber and be in a position to help underprivileged kids, especially those not fortunate enough to have their fathers guiding them,” said Malcolm, who is launching the foundation under his 7th Round brand.
Born in Washington, D.C., Malcolm spent a year living in Belize with his mom and two siblings. Once his mother found work in the United States, she was able to bring her children to California, settling first in Watts, then Compton and finally, Lynwood.
Malcolm’s father was not in the picture – a fact that he now sees as a blessing. “Since my dad had a leaving mindset, it is better that he left and stayed gone,” he noted. “Otherwise, I could have internalized those characteristics. My mother instilled responsibility and character in us just by example.”
Malcolm knows too well that, for kids being raised in poverty by single moms and without fathers as positive role models, crime can seem like the only way out. Violence, gang membership and addiction; all of those dark roads lead to nowhere.
The man who made all the difference in Malcolm’s life was his own personal Mr. Miyagi – Peter “Sugarfoot” Cunningham, his martial-arts teacher and mentor and a seven-time world champion kickboxer. He taught Malcolm how important it is for an athlete to have a strong work ethic and discipline. These lessons became the foundation of Malcolm’s championship business approach. The name 7th Round was derived from the principles Malcolm learned from Cunningham.
Malcolm will carry out his mission by going into inner-city neighborhoods and schools, and partnering with other foundations to provide mentorship, funding and, eventually, scholarships. He understands that success is an inside job and starts with changing one’s perspective. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you are looking at will change,” he said.
Malcolm incorporates psychology and neuroscience principles to create a championship mindset for himself and those he supports through coaching and mentorship.
