All my clients have a drive and a passion to succeed.
(1888PressRelease) July 25, 2008 - Ray Moore is an ActionCOACH based in Chelmsford, England and recently won two prestigious awards during ActionCOACH’s annual UK/European and African conference held recently in London.
Ray runs a firm consisting of six other ActionCOACH Business Coaches, and they were recognised as “Firm of the Year” and “Coaches Choice Marketing Firm of the Year” at the awards ceremony.
Ray has been part of ActionCOACH for five years now and before that owned and ran an industrial supplies firm with an annual turnover in excess of £6million. He sold the firm with an intention of taking a year out but, by his own admission, was bored within three days.
Whilst casting around for a new business role, Ray took up a voluntary position mentoring fledgling businesses and found that this was something he really enjoyed. As a result, when he saw information about ActionCOACH in the Financial Times newspaper, he realised that it was a fantastic opportunity.
“I saw that here was something that fitted in both with my desire to get back into business and the enjoyment and satisfaction I took from helping other business people,” he says. “It was literally the perfect opening for me.”
Ray’s clients come from the Essex area and are involved in a variety of different industries.
“No matter what their background, they all have one common denominator,” Ray says. “All my clients have a drive and a passion to succeed.”
Ray’s business philosophy is that a successful owner has to be prepared to grow with his or her company.
“For a business to be able to grow in an organised and sustainable fashion the owner has to be prepared to grow with it,” he says. “Otherwise the business will overtake them and the owner will inevitably try to put the brakes on. This can lead to a conflict of interests and is where problems start to arise.”
Ray finds that most of his clients are working too many hours for not enough money and that their potential far outweighs their actual performance.
“I can help transform the business prospects of my clients as long as they are prepared to change,” he says. “They need to be prepared to leave their comfort zone and try new techniques and strategies. My job is to act as an unreasonable but compassionate friend who tells it like it is, someone who will drive them forward and stop them falling back into bad habits.”
Ray is not far from retiring but sees himself retaining a role within ActionCOACH after he has stopped running his firm.
“Being an ActionCOACH is a role that I really enjoy and it is not something I want to give up in retirement. The structure of the business means that I can scale down my commitments and spend more time with friends and family, whilst still working part-time with business people who can really benefit from my help.”
