  • Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2012 - Ray Jefferson, a Presidential Appointee in the Obama administration who served as the Assistant Secretary for the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) at the U.S. Department of Labor and is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, recently had the honor of attending Super Reunion II, an event hosted by the USAF Academy Way of Life Alumni Group (WOL). Super Reunion II aims to promote connection and professional development while celebrating the legacies of graduates from minority backgrounds.

The event, sponsored by Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, was held August 8-11 at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort, Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida. It is the largest gathering of diverse graduates of each of the five service academies and honors African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American, Pacific-Islander and Native American graduates from these academies and all graduation years. The conference challenged the group to explore collaborative community service centered on building character, leadership and academic excellence, and also offered professional development seminars and a career fair. It also provided a full day of teen oriented seminars and a Youth Inspiration Luncheon. On the last day of Super Reunion II, a Tribute Luncheon was held to honor the 2012 Trailblazer Honorees and 2012 Pathfinder Honorees - service academy graduates whose inspiring lives exemplify the Academies' ideal of "Service Beyond Self."

Raymond Jefferson applauds the tremendous work of the planning committee and the contributions that minority graduates from the five service academies make to our nation every day.
