RationalPlan 4.8 - Hungarian Language Support, Ubuntu Adoption and Earned Value Analysis
Stand By Soft is pleased to announce the release of version 4.8 for RationalPlan project management suite. Current version comes with significant changes that will certainly help users: Hungarian language was added, Ubuntu integration, support for Earned Value Analysis, tasks distribution in Timesheet view, improved filtering and many other features.
- (1888PressRelease) May 15, 2014 - RationalPlan is a project management suite that started as a desktop application designed to run on all major operating systems - Windows, Linux and Mac OS X - but it evolved into an embedded management system that is now available even as a cloud service both for individuals and for companies that need a distributed solution with concurrent access from multiple users.
Important changes for this version:
Added possibility for Earned Value Analysis - including CV, SV, CPI, SPI, ACWP, BCWP, BCWS related values
Better integration with Ubuntu
The products are now also available in Hungarian
Tomcat 8 compatibility for the On Premise solution
Added tasks distribution in Timesheet view
More work on filters
Also export data to Microsoft Project .xml format when working with the Server
Also export the reschedule date to .xls
Changes related to email notifications for resources
Added information about documents on tasks in the Info column
Compatibility with Google Calendar - updated libraries for iCalendar integration
Project import into Server should not be done if you do not have rights to add projects, resources, calendars and clients
At multiple users requests it was added the possibility to perform Earned Value Analysis. Users are now able to work with well known entities like CV, SV, CPI, SPI, ACWP, BCWP, BCWS. For those that are more interested on this subject, the team behind RationalPlan prepared some short tutorials on Earned Value Management.
The work for a better integration with Ubuntu platform continued and now special .deb installers are available. It is nothing easier than installing RationalPlan on Ubuntu and any Debian related operating system.
Hungarian language was added thanks to our partner: Faduw Art company from Hungary.
RationalPlan Server (On Premise solution) is now also compatible with Tomcat 8 - the latest version. Users can now safely update their systems.
For a better control over the projects and the work performed by resources Tasks distribution was added in Timesheet view. Users will have a bar like rendering of the work performed by resources for a fast overview.
Data export as Microsoft Project .xml format is also available when working with the Server. In case RationalPlan users need to transfer data from their server to collaborators that are using MS Project they can do it now. On the same note more data gets exported to .xls format including the reschedule date for projects.
The list of filters already available within Gantt view were also added on Tasks view. More than that - but only when working with the Server - a new filter was added: Task responsible filter to allow project managers to easily see the list of tasks that a certain user is responsible for.
When connected to the Server, sending assignments to resources by email is done through the Server, that is using the email server settings and not the local settings from each client machine. Even more the notifications are sent by default only to those resources assigned to tasks from the current project. The compatibility with Google Calendar was fixed - libraries for iCalendar integration were updated - so now .ics files attached to the emails can also be opened directly from GMail.
Document details were added within the Info column from the Gantt view. It is straightforward now to see on which tasks there are documents associated and what documents are attached.
Importing projects into the Server can not be done anymore unless the user that performs the operation has the rights to add projects, resources, calendars and clients. Many other minor problems were solved: related to internationalization, loosing column settings and custom names for Data 1..10 columns, undo and redo actions do not create duplicate calendars after project imports, and others.
RationalPlan suite includes:
RationalPlan Single Project - an alternative to Microsoft Project and the perfect solution for novice or accidental project managers
RationalPlan Multi Project - project management software for multiple projects, projects that are interconnected through dependencies and share common resource
RationalPlan Project Viewer - free project management software viewer, the solution for anyone (from project stakeholders to team workers) to view projects details
RationalPlan Project Server - a centralized place to manage the company's projects while offering concurrent access to different users
