- Kalamazoo-Portage, MI (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2010 - Ramey Auto Group made a donation to fund the recently revived Bluefield College Rams football team on Monday. The West Virginia car dealer presented Bluefield College president Dr. David Olive and Rams football coach Mike Gravier with a $5,000 check.
Bluefield college holds a lot of meaning for Ramey Auto Group. Jonathan Sheets, sales manager at WV car dealer Ramey Toyota, says that the donation is "something that Mr. Ramey wanted to do. We have a lot of employees and a lot of his family that's graduated from Bluefield College. [We] just feel really fortunate to contribute to a program like this".
Ramey Auto group is a long time supporter of local West Virginia athletic programs: "any type of athletics, from pee-wee football to collegiate football, we're just happy to be a part of it", says Sheets.
Bluefield College's football team will soon return to the field after a 69 year absence. The school disbanded the Rams football program in 1941 because most of its male athletes had been called away to serve in World War II. The Bluefield College Rams are scheduled to begin club play in fall 2011 and intercollegiate matchups during the 2012 football season.
