Ramakrishna Mission Brings in Nationwide Student Innovation Competition
Ramakrishna Mission on its 125th Anniversary is organizing a nationwide Student Innovation Competition to showcase students’ creativity for the betterment of the society through environment-friendly and sustainability measures.

The Ramakrishna Mission 125th Anniversary Nationwide Student Innovation Competition provides you with a platform to share your creativity for the benefit of people. The winners will be duly recognized with certificates and exciting prizes too.
The Challenge aims to inspire and recognize the creative and innovative spirit of the student community from Class VIII to Ph.D. in order to promote instruments that increase the independence of the elderly and disabled as well as environmental friendly and sustainable growth on our planet.
The Thrust Areas of the Student Innovation Competition are:
• Making use of domestic garbage to recycle it into new materials
• Utilizing recycled plastic/polymer materials
• Green energy use and energy efficiency
• Creating plastic substitutes.
• Eco-friendly agricultural equipment
• Convenient Soft and Hard Tools for Elderly and Disabled People
• Support for electronic communication
• Support for Cyber-security
• Any other relevant area
Reason to Organise
Swami Vivekananda was heartbroken when he visited several parts of India and saw the extreme poverty that the majority of the population endured. He was really impressed by the opportunity for everyone to receive an education and find good job in Europe and the United States. According to Swamiji, the only causes of India's low living standards are a lack of economic opportunity for the average person and a lack of access to education. Swami Vivekananda continued to encourage children to acquire useful life skills and explore paths of creativity after his return to India in 1897. The Ramakrishna Mission 125th Anniversary Student Innovation Competition pays a little tribute to Swami
Vivekananda's brilliance in motivating the resuscitation and renewal of Indian society.
Swamiji said, "What we need, you know, is to study, independent of foreign control, different branches of the knowledge that is our own, and with it the English language and Western science; we need technical education and all else that may develop industries so that men, instead of seeking for service, may earn enough to provide for themselves, and save something against a rainy day...Material civilization, nay, even luxury, is necessary to create work for the poor... Real education is that which enables one to stand on one's own legs...Modern education has changed your fashion, but new avenues of wealth lie yet undiscovered for want of the inventive genius...A number of geniuses are sure to arise from among them (i.e. Indians) in course of time."
