Raleigh's Media Partners, Inc. Wins Two New Accounts
Agency's Growing Portfolio includes TEN TV Clients in this November Sweep.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) November 09, 2013 - November sweeps have officially started. It's the month when every network pulls out the big guns to draw as large an audience as possible for television shows. Specializing in media strategy and buying, Media Partners, Inc. (MPI) creates plans that entice viewers to choose one program over another with strategic advertising plans that support the best story lines, the cliff hangers and the season finales. This month MPI recognizes sweeps while announcing two new television account wins that include three stations in two states: sister stations WAVY-TV 10 and WVBT-FOX 43 in Portsmouth, Virginia, and WCWG/ CW 20 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
"We're excited to sign these two new station groups which bring our portfolio of television accounts to 10," said MPI Partner Nancy Bono. "Sweeps are important in the TV ratings world because local stations use this data to determine what they charge advertisers for air time on local newscasts and on programming elsewhere in the local line-up. A successful sweep means just as much to the local news team as it does to the affiliate. Perhaps even more. We understand that nuance."
For WAVY, WVBT and WCWG, MPI will provide all co-op media planning and buying in support of all television sweep periods (February, May and November), as well as September new program launches. In addition to acting as a full-service media agency, MPI will leverage its co-op relationships to find grant dollars to support new programs, and maximize co-op spending throughout the year.
To sweep or be swept? That is the question, and it's a ratings business that MPI knows well. For the affiliates like ABC, NBC, FOX and CW it's all about the new PRIME TIME shows and getting new viewers to their air. For the local stations, it's all about boosting ratings and keeping the viewer tuned in to their air for local news, weather and sports. The agency creates the strategies and placements that ultimately help stations with pulling in viewers. New episodes, big specials and the biggest interviews on talk shows get viewers to tune in. The strategies change from sweep to sweep, but the goal remains the same: Pull in viewers and keep them tuned in. There are a number of ways the agency helps clients reach viewers through advertising. Media plans offer strategies that include radio, cable, online radio, outdoor billboards, cinema and mobile messaging. Sometimes, even aerial advertising is included when your media market is home to the University of Tennessee.
"Ratings measure more than the numbers of viewers," said Partner Sal Conino. "Ratings consider the audience the show brings in, what night of the week is strongest, the time slot competition and overall station brand. We help clients to maximize their co-op budget, but we also understand the importance of the local delivery and partnerships. We pride ourselves in going beyond the media dollar and into the local market for promotions and maximum exposure. We've had Rachael Ray get behind a local promotion in Roanoke and Dr. Phil gave us additional money in Tri-Cities. It feels great to help our television clients be creative in their media marketing."
MPI's television clients started with WSET-TV, the ABC affiliate in Lynchburg, VA back in December, 2000. Since that time, MPI has been growing this segment of business around media planning and buying strategies and co-op relationships that have been in place for nearly 15 years. That expertise and referrals have extended MPI's reach beyond Lynchburg and ABC to several markets including: Tri-Cities, TN, Raleigh, NC, Knoxville, TN, Norfolk, VA and now Greensboro, NC. We've also represented all networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW and My Network) as well as countless syndicated show promotion - from the Oprah days to the newest talk shows of Bethenny and Queen Latifah.
