Raleigh City Councilor Nancy McFarlane Introduces Small Business Initiative
Vows To Streamline Process To Ensure "Raleigh Is Open For Business".
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) June 21, 2011 - Raleigh City Councilor Nancy McFarlane (http://www.nancymcfarlane.com) is calling for a streamlined permitting process for small businesses. Currently potential small business owners must submit information to several different departments within the City of Raleigh in order to meet the requirements necessary to open their doors for business. Streamlining these steps will not only help small business owners get their companies up and running more quickly and efficiently, but it will also create local jobs for Raleigh's citizens. McFarlane will bring the initiative before the Raleigh City Council on Tuesday, June 21.
McFarlane, who is a candidate for Raleigh Mayor, started her own small business MedPro Rx, an accredited specialty infusion pharmacy that provides infusion medications and services to clients with chronic illnesses, in Raleigh in 2002. Active in the local business community, she has firsthand knowledge of the challenges small businesses owners face when it comes to launching a new business.
QUOTES:
"We need to do more to help small businesses open in Raleigh," said McFarlane. "Especially as the State is laying off thousands of workers here in Raleigh, now is the time for the City to make sure that we are making the process of opening a new business accessible, simplified and as hassle-free as is safely possible. Raleigh is open for business, and we encourage anyone who is interested in starting their own company to reach out to the City for support."
