RAK Ceramics to set-up state-of-the-art Tile manufacturing plant in Gujarat
RAK Ceramics, world's No.1 Ceramic Manufacturer has entered into a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011 held recently in Ahmedabad. Under this MOU, RAK has committed an investment of Rs500 Crores with plans of setting up a Ceramic Tile manufacturing plant in the state.

RAK Ceramics, world's No.1 Ceramic Manufacturer has entered into a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2011 held recently in Ahmedabad. Under this MOU, RAK has committed an investment of Rs500 Crores with plans of setting up a Ceramic Tile manufacturing plant in the state.
The MOU was signed between Mr Sudhir Malesha, CEO, RAK Ceramics India and the Gujarat Government. The strategic tie-up will help RAK increase its presence and cater to the North-West market vividly with its state-of-the-art manufacturing and the wide range of products through its Ceramic Tile Manufacturing Plant.
"Gujarat is one of the most favoured destinations offering excellent infrastructure backed by the dynamic leadership and support of Shri Narendra Modi. We are focused on Gujarat for our operations and are planning to invest Rs 500 crores over a period of five years and we have identified about 50-70 acres of land at Himmatnagar in Mehsana district. This move will also create employment opportunities in the state," said Mr Sudhir Malesha, CEO, RAK Ceramics India.
This investment in Gujarat will help the world's No. 1 ceramic manufacturer to reduce the freight outward cost and thereby become one of the best ceramic manufacturing hub in the west.
RAK Ceramics is presently engaged in the production of about 360,000 sq m per day of ceramic/ vitrified tiles and about 12,0 00 pieces of sanitary ware per day. The first phase of production will start in the first quarter of 2012. The company plans to export its ceramic products from Gujarat in future and will also look at related investment by the group company from UAE in other fields.
