Rail Ticket Award Brings Boston Mayor Back To His Roots
Lincolnshire based Magnadata Group Ltd welcomes back the Mayor of Boston, Councillor Peter Jordan OBE for a VIP visit & open day on Tuesday 25th January. The visit is to recognise and launch the manufacture of the "iconic" orange magnetic rail ticket and associated products as part of the five year contract awarded for all the UK Train Operating Companies.

Boston, Lincolnshire, UK, 18th January 2011 - Boston based Magnadata Group Ltd, welcomes the Mayor of Boston, Cllr Peter Jordan OBE along with executives from the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce to their premises on a VIP visit next week.
They will be visiting the manufacturing facilities on Horncastle Road where over 240 people are employed. This will include a tour of the new rail customer service department and the manufacturing area dedicated to the production of the rail tickets. In addition the guests will meet management and employees to oversee the first batch of tickets coming off the presses.
Magnadata Group recently announced the award of a 5 year, £25 million pound contract by ATOC (Association of Train Operating Companies) which commenced on January 1st 2011 and has generated the employment of 15 additional employees in Boston who will service the contract.
Since winning the contract, the Company has been conducting significant testing and approval directly with the ticket equipment manufacturers, to ensure conformity to product specifications and quality standards. A new dedicated customer service team is on hand to deal with enquiries and orders and will provide a one stop shop for the train companies including an online purchasing facility for all tickets and associated products.
This contract adds to an international list of existing transport ticketing clients, namely New York Metro, Dublin Bus, Valencia Metro, Sydney Rail and London Underground. Magnadata was the first company to develop magnetic stripe ticket technology for British Rail which was recognised by being awarded the Queen's Award for Technology in 1987.
At the time of this award, Cllr Jordan was the Managing Director of Norprint where he spent a large part of his career. On leaving school he joined Fisher Clark (later Norprint) as an Engineering Apprentice. Over subsequent years he progressed to become the Chairman and CEO of Norcros PLC.
