Raffles Dubai announces the launch of the "raffles Dubai racing outfit swish" Event
Raffles Dubai and Hellwafashion.com partner to bring an eco-friendly fashion event exclusively for ladies.
- (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2010 - Raffles Hotel Dubai (www.raffles.com/dubai ) has today announced the launch of their first 'Racing Outfit Swish', the first event of its kind to be held in the UAE. Partnering with the prestigious online fashion blog, hellwafashion.com, the event will give Dubai's stylish ladies the opportunity to bring along dresses and/or hats to the event that they can then exchange for other outfits that have been brought along by other ladies.
Swishing parties, which have taken the United Kingdom by storm, are a fantastically fun and free way to walk away with a new outfit, whilst helping to save the planet. Essentially swishing is quality clothes swapping (no jumble sale items wanted here!) - so, one gets to dig out the clothes that have only been worn a handful of times, or have lurked unworn at the back of the wardrobe, and exchange them for clothes you really do want, and will wear.
Raffles Dubai (www.raffles.com/dubai ) and hellwafashion.com have realised that the party and racing season is fast approaching and the pressure of a purchasing those new outfits would soon be upon us.
Both parties wanted to organise a fashion event that not only was easier on the wallet but would also produce a community of eco-fashionistas within the UAE.
Spearheading the event, Bebhinn Kelly, Owner and Founder of hellwafashion.com said, "I was introduced to swishing by a friend from the UK and it was such a great way to recycle those clothes and accessories that you just feel bad getting rid of. It's a great reason to get a group of girls together and not have the hassles of Mall parking, queues and credit card bills."
In the UK alone 900,000 tonnes of shoes and clothes are thrown away annually, with only 200,000 tonnes of this recycled, the remainder going to landfill.

The rules are simple: all attendees must bring at least one quality 'racing' outfit (and/or hats) and you can take home whatever you find in the room, to the equivalent amount you brought. After the swishing all ladies will be treated to a delectable Raffles afternoon tea and exclusive gift bag courtesy of a number of sponsors.
