- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) December 24, 2010 - Webcaster Dan Herman announced his list of the top 98 independent-label and/or unsigned acts of 2010 receiving airplay on the long-running Internet radio/podcast program "Radio Crystal Blue." This list was generated by Mr. Herman, the program's creator and patron of indepedently released music.
Mark Erelli took the number-one position for 2010, becoming the first artist in Radio Crystal Blue's ten-year history to repeat this feat. 2nd place went to songwriter Anais Mitchell (Righteous Babe Records), garnered from the strength of her 2010 CD "Hadestown". 3rd place went to veteran songwriter Chris Smither, who continues to ride the momentum of his 2009 CD "Time Stands Still".
The annual airplay chart is an amalgamation of Mr. Herman's quarterly airplay charts, which track progressive amounts of airplay and exposure over a 3- and 12-month period.
With the highest average chart placement belonging to a debuting artist in the latter half of Dan's quarterly charts, New York City-based rock band The Vanguard earned the title of 2010's Best New Artist.
In addition, Mr. Herman announces his list of top 10 CDs released in 2010. Mr. Erelli's CD "little vigils" takes this title, ahead of Ms. Mitchell for "Hadestown" and songwriter Kevin So, for "LiFe Solo AKouStic".
Mr. Herman further updated his list of top 25 all-time top recording artists as heard on his show. The top three are songwriters Natalia Zukerman (Weasel Records), Ellis (Rubberneck Records), and Rachael Sage (MPress Records).
