R. K. Redding Construction Recognized at AGC Build Georgia Award Ceremony

Redding Construction (RKR) is proud to announce that for the 11th year in a row, the firm has been recognized with a top award by AGC Georgia, the statewide chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America, Inc. (AGC of America). The award will be presented to RKR President & CEO Randall Redding at the AGC Build Georgia awards ceremony in Sandestin, Fla. on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

The following projects were spotlighted by the organization:
Glynn Academy High School Prep Building Modernization & New Band Building – earned First Place in its construction group
Lutheranch Retreat Center – earned first place in its construction group
Polk County College and Career Academy – earned merit honors in its construction group

R. K. Redding Construction took disparate paths to achieve honors for its clients.

Glynn Academy
The 1906 building was completely gutted, taking everything back down to the joists and exterior walls and brought up to code and reimagined for today's school children. At the same time, RKR built a new Band Building right next to the existing facility and blended new and old seamlessly. Restoring this century old building challenged our project team daily and kept our pencils sharp as we engineered new solutions on the job site and relied on old-fashioned elbow grease and determination to get the job done on time, within budget and with great quality.

Lutheranch Retreat Center
“A place apart to experience God … and community.” This is from Lutheranch’s website. R. K. Redding Construction built this beautiful space with that in mind. We strived to make it that special place apart. To accomplish this goal for Lutheranch, RKR overcame a challenging natural landscape with limited access to utilities, as well as used resourceful creativity to produce the following: playfully hidden door, custom desk fabricated on-site, unique fusion of rustic-modern design and carefully sculpted staircase of cement and wood.

Polk County College and Career Academy
To maximize the client’s time, RKR bid site development on Polk County College and Career Academy, while drawings were being completed by the architect. For the Polk School District to receive reimbursement from the State, classes had to be held inside the new addition before the end of the 2017 school year. Each space in the Career Academy building required different systems and rough-in requirements geared towards each unique technical trade and the team encountered unsuitable soils. Even with these stringent conditions, the team met the move-in requirements, which helped the District obtain the funding to purchase new lab equipment for the Academy.

Recent AGC Georgia Awards for RKR include the following projects: Banneker High School Addition (2017), Alexander High School Competition Gymnasium (2016), Roopville Road Baptist Church Worship Center (2015), West Georgia Technical College Allied Healthcare Building (2014), Trinka Davis Veterans Village (2013), GT Boggs NRE Lab Renovation and UWG Campus Bookstore (2012), Paulding County High School Addition/Renovation (2011), UWG Greek Village (2010), North Paulding School Cluster (2009) and Rockmart Middle School (2008).
