NewAge Industries now offers a large inventory of fluoropolymer tubing (often referred to as Teflon(R) tubing) in a choice of six styles: straight, thin wall, coiled, corrugated, convoluted, or stainless steel overbraided.
(1888PressRelease) December 16, 2006 - PTFE, FEP, & PFA Tubing Now Stocked in Six Styles
Variety Meets the Requirements of Many Applications
Southampton, PA — NewAge Industries is pleased to announce the immediate availability of PTFE, FEP, and PFA tubing in a choice of styles—straight, thin wall, coiled, corrugated, convoluted, or overbraided—to address various demands. The company has a large inventory of all six types. Often referred to as Teflon(R) tubing, PTFE, FEP, and PFA fluoropolymer tubing is best known for its heat and chemical resistance and for its non-stick properties. Applications include laboratory and medical use, automotive, chemical and petrochemical transfer, adhesive delivery, corrosives, pure/deionized water systems, pharmaceutical processing, flame retardant covering, food and beverage lines, cryogenics, environmental sampling, and others.
The diversity of styles focuses on different application challenges. PTFE, FEP, and PFA tubing in straight lengths, which is typically a fairly rigid product, works well in applications such as fluid transfer and sampling. Thin wall PTFE tubing, offered in AWG (American Wire Gauge) and inch sizes, meets wire insulation and protective covering needs. For applications like robotics, paint spray, and dispensing systems, coiled FEP tubing called Coiltef(TM) is frequently used. Coiltef may be expanded and retracted repeatedly without adverse effect to the heat-set coil. Corrtef(TM) corrugated FEP tubing allows a nearly zero bend radius. It may be extended or compressed without impacting the tubing’s inner dimensions. For flexibility and easy flush cleaning, Contef(TM) convoluted PTFE tubing is available. Contef is offered with or without an exterior wire for increased pressure capabilities and to aid in electrical grounding. Lastly, stainless steel overbraiding for PTFE tubing protects the core, reduces kinking, and provides working pressures as high as 3000 psi.
The varieties of PTFE, FEP, and PFA tubing stocked by NewAge Industries handle virtually any corrosive chemical in use today, with few exceptions. While recognized for its excellent resistance to heat—up to 500°F (260°C) continuously, PTFE, FEP, and PFA tubing is also quite useful in extremely cold temperatures—as low as –400°F (–240°C). It offers the lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material, excellent electrical properties, low permeability, and non-flammability. While PTFE is milky white in color, FEP and PFA provide clarity for applications where visual inspection of the flow is desired.
Sizes range from 1/32” through 4” I.D., depending on the product. Metric sizes are available, as well as AWG sizes from 30 through 0. Most items ship the same day they are ordered. Pureloc(R) PFA compression fittings are also stocked, offering the availability of a complete fluoropolymer tubing system. Custom options, such as color striping for easy line identification, cut-to-length pieces, and heat-formed shapes, are offered as well.
