Despite the constant denials on Sony's part, the PS3 manufacturers have stated that PS4 starts production this year and will be released to the public in 2012.
Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) July 07, 2011 - Sony has been constantly rejecting the notion of the PS4 coming soon, despite the rumors spreading around the internet and a few slips made by Sony heads. But now their PS3 manufacturer in Taiwan has leaked that the Sony has already ordered the PS4 to be produced in 2011.
The total order of PS4 consoles was for 20 million, and that number is staggering. It will include a Kinect-type motion-based movement rather than the PS Move technology. The manufacturers said the order was placed earlier this year, which makes even more rumors spread across the web.
One of the rumors answered the question about an early release date. Sony has constantly said the PS3 is just hitting it's stride, and we already knew the PS4 was being developed. But to actually think within 16 months the PS4 could be in our living rooms is phenomenal.
Many think that the PS4 is coming out early is due to the release of the Wii U. The speculation suggests that Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony had a private agreement to release consoles during 2013, and that with the release of Wii U for 2012, Sony is striking back.
Either way, the PS4 isn't that far away, even closer than we anticipated.
