ProxSys MA 2400 by Rimage and COMO: Cost-optimized workflow and fully automated video archiving on Blu-ray DiscTM
Rimage, the industry-leading provider of on-demand CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc™ publishing systems, and COMO Computer & Motion GmbH, a VITEC subsidiary,, have jointly developed a highly cost-effective fully automatic video archiving solution for less than 10,000 €.
- (1888PressRelease) November 18, 2011 - Dietzenbach - Cost-effective yet robust video archiving solutions, including intelligent data management, are urgently needed by the market. Storage on tapes does not meet the need. The joint solution from Rimage and COMO reduces the existing resource- and time-consuming process and presents a complete workflow for smart and efficient media archiving. Benefits range from fast ingestion of data and automated archiving on Blu-ray discs to easy file organization and search and preview via an intuitive graphical user interface in the constantly available online database.
While importing content, a small preview file is generated, an online database gets filled with these "proxies" and native and custom metadata. A unique ID is assigned and the HD files are automatically burned on two Blu-ray discs. One disc is intended for long-term archiving while the other is intended for everyday use. The project-oriented structure of the database allows businesses to keep track of the archived media.
An integral part of the ProxSys MA-2400 is a Rimage Professional Blu-ray Disc Publishing System with two BD recorders and an Everest 400 thermal retransfer printer. This system completely automates the long-term archiving of video data to evidentiary-grade Blu-ray discs.
"The ProxSys MA 2400 combines fast access in everyday archives with reliable long-term archiving. Expensive media such as Panasonic P2 and Sony SxS cards can be used again quickly. Archiving is fully automated, and search and preview can be done in a browser-based online database.", says Norman Schlomka, Managing Director of COMO Computer & Motion GmbH.
"We squarely address the critical content needs of our business and broadcast customers: automation, workflow optimization and almost unlimited cost-effective storage space on extremely durable Blu-ray discs," explains Jürgen Sattelmayer, Rimage Business Development Manager EMEA.
Rimage's high-quality, evidentiary-grade media enables users to securely and cost effectively publish and distribute content as needed and to archive HiRes-data for extended periods or permanent storage.
Optical discs are a worldwide standard. They have a shelf life of up to 100 years and are durable, secure and portable. With Rimage's direct-to-disc printing technology, users can print a summary of the contents on each disc along with any applicable metadata. This enables recipients to identify the contents without having to mount or insert the disc.
