If approved, the chemical disclosure program in A 1976 will come into force 120 days after becoming law.

    Highlights of the A 1976 law include, but are not limited to:

    • A definition of ‘pet products’
    • A list of 83 chemicals of high concern (CHC) and nine priority chemicals (PC)
    • Measures allowing competent authorities to publish, review and revise the list
    • A requirement for manufacturers to notify retailers of products containing a listed chemical
    • A chemical disclosure program for pet product manufacturers
    • Directions to competent authorities to establish rules for implementing the Act
