Prominent Lake Republican Endorses Frank Wood for Florida House
A prominent Lake County Republican, retired United States Army Lt. Col., and Korean War veteran, Frank Sargent, has endorsed the Wood campaign, joining other GOP voters in backing the award-winning economics teacher.
- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) October 28, 2010 - Fiscally conservative and focused on creating jobs, preserving our water, and improving our schools, Florida House candidate Frank Wood, an economics teacher, is gaining momentum as election day draws near.
He has earned the trust and endorsement of the Orlando Sentinel, the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women, The Florida Education Association, teacher professional organizations in Lake and Seminole counties, The Mount Dora Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 147, and other statewide and local groups.
And now a prominent Lake County Republican, Frank Sargent, has endorsed the Wood campaign, joining other GOP voters in backing the award-winning economics teacher.
"Frank Wood is honest, intelligent, and a perfect gentleman," Sargent said. "He is one of the nicest men I've ever met."
Sargent, a retired United States Army Lt. Col. and Korean War veteran, is a life-long Republican who directed successful campaigns for many public officials in the area, from school board to Congress.
"Being a pragmatist," Sargent said, "means I will reach across the aisle in order to choose the candidate who can best serve the taxpayers."
"I believe Frank Wood will do the best job in the Florida House of Representatives, District 25," the lifelong Republican added.
Wood, a 30-year veteran Economics teacher at Mount Dora High School, and former Lake County Teacher of the Year, said Sargent's endorsement means a great deal to him.
"This campaign stands for unity," Wood said. "When people stand together, when they refuse to allow themselves to be divided by labels, then government grows more ethical and more efficient. If voters honor me with their support in this campaign, I pledge to serve all of my constituents."
Wood has been urged for years to run for the legislative seat. He shares credit for his campaign's accelerating momentum with the "can-do spirit" of his volunteers and a growing base of voters from both parties and all walks of life, who believe state government needs more common sense.
Wood believes voters are ready for genuine change in Tallahassee. "More and more people believe government should be practical and useful, rather than bureaucratic and self-serving."
