Progress on Rome's La Colorada-Esmeralda and Don Luis, Sonora, Properties-November 5, 2011
The underground gold mine at La Patria clarified the local framework structures. However, during mapping underground there we were challenged and had to back off from a very large rattlesnake!
- (1888PressRelease) November 08, 2011 - The main focus this week was establishing the best locations for trenches/tracks for reverse circulation drill access on Rome's La Colorada - Esmeralda Grid. To do this effectively two gold mine areas-La Patria and Esmeralda-were mapped by Godwin with the assistance of our new Junior Geologist Martin Rosendo. The resulting map with proposed trenches/tracks for drill access around the old Esmerald Mine is shown in the left picture, below (or on our website). All tracks are within strong gold in soil geochemical anomalies. The geology along line E4 is particularly encouraging because of occurrences of: very red soil, intense muscovite (mica) alteration and locally abundant quartz vein stockworks. The underground gold mine at La Patria clarified the local framework structures. However, during mapping underground there we were challenged and had to back off from a very large rattlesnake! To date we have marked in the Esmeralda Grid area twelve trench/track locations for detailed geochemical sampling and follow-up drilling.
Reconnaissance reverse circulation drilling on the Central Zone of Rome's Don Luis Silver-Gold-Tungsten Greisen-Porphyry Property is still in progress (left picture, below). As mentioned last week the silica (quartz) cap in this zone is very hard and drilling is very slow. The Atlas Copco down-the-hole-hammer we were using developed a crack in its outer shell and the drill will be shut down for three or four days waiting for a replacement hammer.
Next week bulldozer work on the Esmeralda Grid at La Colorada is expected to begin. The bulldozer belongs to the rancher with the surface rights. Consequently, the start-time depends upon when he can mobilize his bulldozer to the property. Godwin and Alvarez will be concentrating on updating all data, writing a News Release and developing a budget for exploration expenses in Mexico.
