  • (1888PressRelease) June 05, 2014 - "These are true stories that really happen in my community and I want to tell the world how I feel", Prinz-D The First Deaf Rapper says, about a new song of his titled "This Can't Be Life".

This is a sample of his third album, one that he's still working on. Featuring a enhanced meaning of being deaf in America, issues affecting him through deaf eyes flow, this album is a change from other songs you may have heard from Prinz-D. He's also adapted a new style, which we're all excited to share.

When asked where the motivation for a song like this came from, Prinz-D The First Deaf Rapper explained; "I had this dream one day and I vividly saw this girl who was hard of hearing who wanted to rap like the other guys in school, but they were mocking her and telling her she couldn't be a rapper because she was deaf. One day she imposed her will to be in a rap cypher with the others and she really showed them that they were the ones who were wrong".

He then adds that for the second verse, "growing up deaf people always depended on SSI checks to live, but I see it as a cop out. I used a deaf guy who was less proficient. He had a non-supportive mother who wouldn't do sign language to communicate with him and it caused him to have a low reading level. Then when he started having children out of wedlock, his $1,000 SSI check was not enough to feed them and himself every month."

As you can see, "This Can't Be Life" is a welcome break from typical boastful rap lyrics riddled with curse words, it paints a lyrical story of a deaf female trying to rap, being mocked but risking above such things and of a deaf male depending on SSI not as a fault of his own, but due to upbringing.
