Philadelphia, PA - Online hard rock / heavy metal magazine, Breakdowns & Beatdowns has just launched a new monthly feature with the latest addition to the site, Fresh Meat Fridays. On the first Friday of each month, Breakdowns & Beatdowns will turn the spotlight on one new, up-and-coming band making their way through the rock and metal ranks. Each month, starting December 2010, a new band will be given a feature interview that will debut on Breakdowns & Beatdowns on the first Friday of each month. The very first band highlighted in the Fresh Meat Fridays segment is Philadelphia thrash metal band Abserdo. Abserdo's debut album, Raising a Pervert, was released in June 2010 through Horror Pain Gore Death Productions. Early next year, the band will release a five-song follow-up EP, also through HPGD Productions. One part A&R scouting mission and one part journalistic reporting, Fresh Meat Fridays is geared towards introducing talented new musicians to Breakdowns & Beatdowns' growing audience of metal fans. The website receives upwards of 2,000 unique hits per month with those numbers steadily increasing since the site went live in April 2010. Since that time, Breakdowns & Beatdowns has reviewed a variety of major label and independent album releases, as well as conducted interviews with members of several prominent metal bands including Hatebreed, Lamb of God, and In This Moment. "We welcome bands of all rock and metal genres," notes Breakdowns & Beatdowns editor Lana Cooper, explaining the premise behind the site's latest feature. "It doesn't matter if your band is playing local gigs in a small town somewhere in Nebraska or if you've released your first major label debut. If you play old school punk, new school sleaze, speed metal or gothic doom rock, we're open to it. If you think you have something different and exciting for metal fans to listen to, we want to help put your band on the map in an upcoming installment of Fresh Meat Fridays." Interested bands can send links to their websites and samples of their music to editor@breakdownsandbeatdowns.com with "Fresh Meat Fridays" in the subject header of the email.
