Prince Williams County Public Schools Chooses K12Translate for Written Translation Services
Leading Provider of K12 Translation Services to Help Virginia's Second Largest School Division Reach Limited English Proficiency Students and Their Families.
- Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) September 10, 2010 - Virginia's Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) has awarded a contract for written language translation services to K12Translate, the leading provider of education translation and localization services. The company will translate materials to help PCWS communicate with its limited English proficiency (LEP) populations in numerous languages including Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Twi, Urdu and Vietnamese.
The second largest school district in Virginia, PWCS serves nearly 80,000 students with almost nine percent registered as LEP. To build a bridge to its LEP community and ensure compliance with federal and state laws requiring meaningful communication with LEP students and their families, PWCS turned to K12Translate as a trained, competent provider of written language translation services.
"In Prince William County Public Schools we are committed to communicating with our LEP students and their families in a truly meaningful and culturally responsive way" said Anne Rude, Translation Specialist for the ESOL Program of PWCS. "We recognize the importance of not only meeting state and federal requirements for providing clear and accurate communication to our increasingly diverse population, but even more critically, ensuring that all PWCS students and their parents recognize their value as stakeholders in our school community. K12Translate will provide us with a cost-effective, reliable language access solution designed to achieve these goals."
K12Translate offers translation services for any project a school district might have from small projects, such as health notices or field trip permission slips, to larger documents, such as school manuals and educational materials. The company works with more than 1,000 native-speaking translators to ensure that the finished product uses the appropriate dialects and reflects cultural sensitivities. To ensure the highest quality, all K-12 education translations are put through the same rigorous process. They are translated by a native-speaking translator, proofread and edited by a secondary native speaker for accuracy and reviewed by a K12Translate project manager for completion and final delivery.
"We are excited to add PWCS to the growing list of schools and districts around the country that are turning to us for effective, affordable and timely translation services to connect them to their LEP students, parents and communities," said Chanin Ballance, President and CEO, K12Translate. "As these districts serve changing and growing LEP populations, our expert linguists provide them with them culturally sensitive translation services."
