(1888PressRelease) April 28, 2011 - Staff at York hotel pulled out the VIP stops when a booking was made under the name of Windsor!

Out came the red carpet, the bunting and Union flags for the arrival at the award-winning Best Western Monkbar Hotel of "Prince and Lady Catherine".

However, the couple in question were not the Royal soon-to-be-weds, but Prince the Doberman Pinscher and Lady Catherine, a Pomeranian, who, with their owner, Penny Windsor, from Gloucestershire, had booked a weekend break in the pet friendly hotel.

Monkbar Hotel director June Nelsey said: "Yes, it's fair to say there was a huge wave of excitement when we saw the names on the booking. We knew what time they were arriving and made sure we were ready to greet them in style.

"However, in this case, the VIPs in question were not the second in line to the throne and his fiancé, but two Very Important Pets and their owner.

"We are well-known for our pet friendly policy and actively encourage dog owners to bring their pets to explore this wonderful city. Mrs Windsor did exactly that with Prince and Lady Catherine."

June added: "Like all of our guests, the Windsors were treated like Royalty. Our chefs even prepared a special "dogs' wedding breakfast" for Penny's pooches."

The special menu presented to the pair consisted of:

Muzzles served in a white whine sauce

Traditional t-bone steak served with gravy

Sticky toffee woofing with an even stickier woofing sauce

Ice cold mineral water served with mini bones.
