- (1888PressRelease) July 30, 2013 - While Crisis Leadership is to improve society's capacity to deal with natural disasters; infrastructure, technology, and systems failures; emergent infectious disease; and terrorism etc, one wonders what to do when leadership itself is in crisis. To quote the words of Stephen Covey, Leadership is "Knowing what to do and Doing it." Everyone has inborn leadership abilities as well as potential to lead and through structured processes; anyone can enhance the level of leadership.
Self knowledge is all about every individual realizing one's core values, strengths as well as the way one can work most effectively and according to leadership Guru Warren Bennis, "Self Knowledge is the first step in understanding leadership." Leadership is about improving performance in all domains of life - work, home, community and self by creating a mutual value among them.
Hailed by Business Week as "the man who invented management," Peter Drucker famously had stated that "Management is doing things right, Leadership is doing the right things." Great leaders possess dazzling social intelligence, a zest for change and above all a vision that allows them to set their sights on the "things" that truly merit attention. Since, it is not the strongest of the species nor the most intelligent that survives but the one that is most adaptable to change, Leadership is all about being ever prepared for Change as it is the only constant.
For the Leadership Summit 2013 held at Bhilwara on 20 July 2013 at the elegant Surya Mahal, Sri Onkar Singh IAS District Collector was the Chief Guest and Sri Deenbandhu Chaudhary Chief Editor Dainik Navajyoti was the Guest of Honor. Other who spoke on the occasion included Sri RN Gupta Advisor LNJ Group, Mr Puneet Agarwal Senior Executive of LNJ Group, Mr Kuldeep Arora Director Earth Micro Finance, Mr Nagesh Chavan Entrepreneur & Social Activist, Ms Pragya Paliwal Gaur Director Doordarshan Kendra Jaipur and Sri Ashok Kumar Gadiya Chancellor Mewar University. The message of Mr Riju Jhunjhunwala scion of the LNJ Group for the occasion was conveyed to the audience even though he could not make it to the summit.
Prof BR Natarajan Vice Chancellor Sangam University opened his address invoking the famous Doha of Sant Kabir "kal kare so aaj kar,aaj kare so ab pal men pralay hoyegi, bahuri karega kab", to highlight the theme of the summit "Taking Charge of Change - Right Time Right Now." Prof Natarajan lamented that even though bulk of Indian Railways was on Broad Gauge, it was unfortunate that bulk of Indian mindset was on Narrow Gauge on many issues which required change as much as the countrymen had speedily changed their tastes for Roti (Eating), Kapda (Dressing) and Makkan (Dwelling).
Emphasizing the fact that information is just bits of data while Knowledge is putting them together and Wisdom is transcending them, Prof Natarajan urged the students to understand that Ethics is all about doing the right things even when nobody is watching and set an example by writing examinations without invigilators. Mr Jatinder Singh Secretary PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry who was the moderator summed up the proceedings.
