President Obama Visits Holland Johnson Controls Saft Battery Facility
President Obama tours the technologically advanced Johnson Controls Saft Battery Facility in Holland, Michigan.
- Holland-Grand Haven, MI (1888PressRelease) August 19, 2011 - President Obama traveled to Holland, Michigan on Thursday, August 11, 2011 to tour the new Johnson Controls Saft lithium ion battery cell manufacturing facility. Johnson Controls Saft (JCS) is a customer of HTTM LLC which is a joint venture of Trans-Matic Manufacturing Co. and Heitkamp & Thumann Battery Components.
The President toured the JCS facility in a demonstration of support for new energy technologies and American innovation. During the tour he stopped to examine a VL41M aluminum deep draw cell container made by HTTM. The deep draw cell container highlights Trans-Matic's deep draw metal forming innovation and capabilities within the power storage industry.
HTTM leadership joined the JCS staff in greeting the President and listening to his encouraging remarks. In his speech at the JCS facility, President Obama stated, "This is one of the most advanced factories in the world. You're helping America lead in a growing new industry. You're showing us how we can come back from the worst recession that we've had in generations and start making things here in America that are sold all around the world."
