President Anton Caragea Express Confidence In Ethiopian Tourism Future At European Tourism Meeting
On February 21, 2016, President Dr. Anton Caragea, the leader of World Tourism Institution-European Council on Tourism and Trade had presented a briefing on the launch by Ethiopian Minister of Tourism and Culture-Ms.Aisha Mohammed Mussa of The New Ethiopian Tourism Strategy. In 2015 Ethiopia was selected as winner of WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION IN 2015 by the World Tourism Institution-ECTT.
- (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2016 - On 21 February 2016 European Council on Tourism and Trade President, Professor Dr. Anton Caragea had presented to the leaders of european tourism and academic community the main lines of Ethiopia New Tourism Strategy and the message of congratulation he addressed to the Academician Hailemariam Desalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, on this important occasion.
The message read out by H.E. President Anton Caragea states among other things:
I take this opportunity to express, our appreciation for all your efforts directed towards transforming your country in a world recognized symbol of freedom and a center of spreading hospitality and friendship via tourism development.
We also have the pleasure of congratulation you on the reappointment as the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, a move that was normal and expected as Your Excellency succeeded admirably in implementing the First Growth and Transformation Plan, developing Ethiopian economy beyond all expectations and crowned your achievements by bringing to ETHIOPIA the WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION status.
All this achievements are a far cry from the former image of famine and underdevelopment that where associated with Ethiopia and this is making them even more notable.
2015 had also meant challenges, like the unexpected drought, but your government tackled this issue with diplomacy and a care that must be appreciated.
In my trips: from Lalibela to Axum and to Hawassa and Harar, regardless of creed and ethnicity, they all manifested their trust in your vision for a developed and inclusive Ethiopia, a country that is really not only a WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION but also a country deserving to living in it. I was touched to see the huge gratitude manifested by the people of Ethiopia for Your Excellency decisive efforts in obtaining for your country the most outstanding recognition in tourism: WORLD BEST TOURIST DESTINATION AWARD.
Echoing this attitude the new Minister of Tourism and Culture of Ethiopia Ms.Aisha Mohammed Mussa has outlined in the New Tourism Plan for Ethiopia the importance of continuous cooperation with European Council on Tourism and Trade.
According to A WEEK IN THE HORN- the weekly publication of Minister of foreign Affairs of Ethiopia-Minister of Tourism and Culture of Ethiopia Ms.Aisha Mohammed Mussa had stated that:
Last year, Ethiopia was named WORLD Best Tourism Destination' by the representatives of the 28 countries on the General Assembly of the European Council on Tourism and Trade (ECTT).
The judges noted that the Simien Mountains showed the potential for national parks and offered a model of achieving ecological tourism that should be recognized throughout the world.
They described Ethiopia as perfect for safari and adventure tourism, providing safety and peace, making the country one of the world's top adventure destinations.
ECTT President, Professor Anton Caragea, said ―the Government of Ethiopia is recognizing the importance of tourism as a key facilitator for the country's development, investing in infrastructure, creating a special team under the Prime Minister's leadership for destination promotion and management and protecting the cultural, natural and historical patrimony of the country.
He said the community-based approach, promoted by the Prime Minister was the perfect way of sharing revenue, increasing incomes and supporting marginal and rural community development. ―Ethiopia, he said, ― is a perfect, safe and outstanding place to visit, and all world tourism experts have expressed their confidence in the future of tourism in Ethiopia.
This exchanges of messages and renewed desire of cooperation are auguring good things for future development of Ethiopia noted in unanimity the members of European Tourism Academy.
