Preparations Almost Complete for Local Neighborhood Clean-up
Clearwater residents prepare for a neighborhood clean-up, the fourth of it's kind, to clean the community and raise awareness of the harmful effects of drugs.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2016 - Dozens of Clearwater residents prepare for Saturday, June 18th, when they will hit the streets with the purpose of a cleaner community. Meeting at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, they will split up into groups to pick up trash and litter, in addition to passing out Truth About Drugs booklets to raise awareness of the harmful effects of drugs in the neighborhood.
One volunteer said, "We are on a mission to improve the image of Clearwater as well as get the word out on the Truth About Drugs. Everyone deserves to know the effects of drugs before they make a decision about them. Scientology Founder, L. Ron Hubbard said, 'The single most destructive element present in our current culture is drugs.'"
This is the fourth of such neighborhood clean-ups in the Greenwood area. Volunteers have participated for hours on their weekend in an effort to improve the beauty of the community.
The Truth About Drugs is a program to educate youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free. These materials have helped people around the world learn about the destructive side effects of drugs and thereby make the decision for themselves to not use them.
The Church of Scientology sponsors this program to bring about a drug free society.
