Festival promoter Howard Alan Events produces numerous award-winning shows on Florida's west coast including several in downtown Sarasota, such as the Downtown Sarasota Festival of the Arts; St. Armands Circle Art Festival, Hyde Park Village Art Fair in Tampa and many more. The Downtown Venice Art Festival has expanded through the years with the community's support and has become a highly anticipated annual tradition in Venice. Today, this two-day event brings together 150 of the nation's most talented artists who will collectively display over $15 million in artwork. The artists were juried by an independent panel of expert judges, and hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of their artwork is original and handmade in America.
"This is a fabulous opportunity to explore the work of new and emerging talent as well as the work of established artists from all over the country in one setting," says festival promoter, Howard Alan. "It's a great way to support the artists and the local economy."
Official event posters are very popular among festival goers who add to their collections each year. Artist, Sarah LaPierre will be continuing her father's legacy with the creation of this year's poster. Joe LaPierre, a beloved multi-talented artist, created 5 of the most popular posters in the history of the art show. The 2009 poster was a tribute piece, which included all 5 images. Sarah LaPierre chose a historical landmark in Venice for her inspiration and the poster will be available during the art show for $10.
Howard Alan Events, the festival's promoter, stipulates that all artists are required to be on-site for the entire duration of the show. Artists and their professional white-tented display booths will be located along the tree-lined streets of this popular downtown area. The public can meet and talk with the artists personally, asking questions about their art and inspiration.
The Downtown Venice Art Festival makes the arts accessible to a broad audience. The event appeals to family and friends as a free and fun weekend activity, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections. . Howard Alan comments, "Art is a tangible investment that you can enjoy while it increases in value."
