After the largest flood in 100 years, a vacation home nestled into the Hollywood Hills once owned by Power flooded, and even though the insurance companies picked up much of the tab, Braden Power had to endure the process of the law suit. What started out to be $20,000 in damages soon turned into over $600,000.
"Since I am a developer, I am held to a pretty high standard of knowing possible flood situations even if I didn't work on the home and it was built on the side of a mountain", says Braden. The damages were finally paid by the insurance companies and Braden Power. Power Properties did not do the work on the home and has never been sued for any of their projects.
In that time the lawyers sent out press releases that falsely claimed that Braden Power was in danger of losing Power Properties and with it the presumed death of the Power Properties legacy. Because of the misleading information in the press release, news sources such as the Dallas Observer blog ran stories that led many Dallasites to presume that Braden's interest in Power Properties was in jeopardy. And this couldn't be further from the truth. Unfortunately, many of theses news stories still display when searching for Braden Power online 5 years later.
After 20 years and still going strong, the Power Brothers are at it again. The vision that was originally started by two brothers, Braden Power and Craig Power, has not changed and since 1992, this family owned and operated business has been able to pioneer the renovation efforts of the Gaston Corridor in Old East Dallas.
