- Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) August 03, 2011 - A public reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, August 6, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.
The exhibition features fine art watercolor paintings by Needham, Ma artists Linda Porreca and Evelyn Bernal, and pastel paintings by Tania Roulin of Sharon, MA.
All three artists are active in the Metro West are scene, but this is their first featured exhibition in Franklin.
Tatiana Roulin is a member of several new England art associations, including the Foxboro Art Association, Franklin Art Association, and Framingham Artists' Guild. She holds BFA (summa cum laude) from The Moscow College of Art and Graphics, and has been studying fine art for several years under the very well known Russian realistic painter Yury Gusev. Her approach combines the classic atelier training of the "Russian Academic School" with her own personal style expressed through the harmony of design, color and light. Over the past decade Tatiana had many group shows and several solo shows in US and abroad.
Both Linda Porreca and Evelyn Bernal are active members of the Needham Art Association and the Wellesley Society of Artists, and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Each has garnered a number of awards in exhibitions at those venues, and are known as accomplished artists with distinct styles.
Linda Porreca states that a turning point in her art career was a visit to The Grand Canyon. "It had such a lasting effect on me. The Canyon's beauty opened my eyes to nature's mysteries and all its color in life. Within my paintings, I try to show the power and the beauty of color. Now I can't imagine what life would be without painting."
Evelyn Bernal has also been deeply affected by nature, but in a different way from Porreca. She explains, "Flowers were my first inspiration, not only because of their wonderful colors and beauty, but also because of their symbolic appeal: they carry the promise for the continuation of Life. I also love to paint forests, waterfalls and landscapes. These things express nature's mysteries and it is their quiet sacredness that I try to capture in my paintings."
This exhibition is part of a Woodshed Gallery program designed to help artists take
control of their presentations and advance their careers.
