Pop Up Shop and Open Studios on Tap for Local Arts Collective While Aiding Children
One Portland Maine artist collective helps children stay warm while holding an event featuring open studios and a pop up Holiday Shop.
- Portland-South Portland, ME (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2014 - Not only will over 50 local artists have their arts and fine crafts in the gallery and in their individual studios on December 13th from Noon to 6 pm at Running with Scissors, 250 Anderson St. in Portland, but they will be trying to help others as they collect donations for The Root Cellar, a local charity whose goals are to unite the community while satisfying the physical and spiritual needs of inner-city youth and their families. Warm winter coats, boots, hats and gloves for children aged 5 -18 will be collected during the event. Bring in an item and get a free gift. The Pop Up Shop will feature Holiday cards and ornaments as well as photography, digital art, mixed media, encaustic (wax) paintings, hand tooled leather goods and leather journals, prints, many different kinds of ceramic art, jewelry and more. People will also have the opportunity to tour the artists' studios where the magic happens. Some artists will be offering some special values for this event. For example - Ann Tracy is offering a free (any size) print for every purchase of hanging art.

Running With Scissors; artist studios & community, is a diverse artist studio collective thriving in the industrial and eclectic East Bayside neighborhood of Portland, ME. A dedicated work space, it serves over 50 artists working in various mediums sharing equipment, space, community, ideas, support and tools. This community brings the resources and community together for artists to reach their independent creative goals. It is also the home of The Bayside Clay Center, a branch of RWS dedicated to clay with 15 resident members and 12 associate members.
