Polaris India to participate in Raid De Himalaya

Soaked in the essence of adventure and sports, Polaris India- the leader in off road vehicles, is participating in the 14th edition of Raid De Himalaya starting 5th October 2012. Raid de Himalayas is an extreme endurance event of marathon proportions.

This exhilarating event will be held from 5th Oct to 13th Oct 2012, including all the activities from documentation to prize distribution. The rally would be flagged at Shimla, covering the following route: Shimla - Manali - Spiti - Lahaul - Rohtang - Kaada - Pang - Tang-Nangla - Kaumik - Kabo - Ladakh - Zanskar - Leh/Srinagar. The event is open to Indian and Foreign Motorcycles, Quads and 4 Wheelers.

Polaris is participating in the rally with the range of RZR® S 800 (2 units) and Sportsman® 550 (1 unit), in the Moto Quad category, which would be represented by Ashish Kumar Singh (First time participation in motor sport Rally, driving POLARIS RZR 800 S), Jes David (Winner, DESERT STORM 2010 - bike category and some other races) and Raj Singh Rathore who is already a 2 time winner in Raid de Himalayas.

The total number of vehicles participating in this thrilling rally will have 33 Entries in Extreme Moto Squad category which includes 3 foreign brands, 50 entries in Extreme 4 Wheeler and 60 Entries in Adventure 4 Wheeler. Extreme Moto Squad category will have brands like Polaris, Honda and Suzuki participating whereas Extreme 4 Wheeler category will have participating brands from Mahindra, Tata, Maruti and Mitsubishi. Brands in Adventure 4 wheeler will have participants from Mahindra, Tata, Maruti, Mitsubishi and Toyota.

14th version of the Raid De Himalaya is beyond everything that even the 'die hard' rally riders will expect. What they can expect to remember afterwards will be the Highest Rally Raid in the world; A Rally Raid on the FIM calendars for the 13th consecutive year! Only 20 percent of the starters are expected to finish this adventurous and adrenaline charged event. The weather would be utterly chilly i.e. minus 25o to 30o Celsius alongside wind-chill. Breathing would be a hassle considering the notably low amount of Oxygen in the air. The roads will be no less than riverbeds, where skating on ice will be normal.
