Poland Leads Field of New European Markets with The Speed Traders Workshop 2012 Warsaw
Edgar Perez's The Speed Traders: An Insider's Look at the New High-Frequency Trading Phenomenon That is Transforming the Investing World, Presenting The Speed Traders Workshop 2012 Warsaw, Poland, "How Algorithmic and High Frequency Traders Leverage Profitable Strategies to Find Alpha in Equities, Options, Futures and FX", May 11, 2012.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 26, 2012 - It was reported by FOP that the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) is looking to build on the experience on more established foreign exchanges by launching soon its new trading platform which will be provided by Nyse Euronext. Explaining why the WSE opted to use Nyse Euronext's Universal Trading Platform (UTP), Izabela Olszewska, director of market development at WSE, said: "For a medium-size exchange like ours, it is important to implement solutions that are known by international investors."
Such an approach is obviously designed to facilitate foreign investors who are more likely to be familiar with this system than one that is specific to the Polish market. Ms. Olszewska believes that by adopting UTP technology, future projects between the WSE and Nyse Euronext could be made more viable due to this shared connection. She stressed that common projects between the two exchanges would be a natural development, but adds that any future projects must have clear benefits for both parties.
For now, the WSE remains focused on implementing the new trading platform which will go live on the November 2 this year. The WSE also expects the new trading platform to benefit derivatives trading on the exchange by encouraging new categories of traders such as prop shops, algo traders and high frequency traders onto the exchange. Ms. Olszewska says that there has been a lot of interest from international HFT in the Polish derivatives markets and that with the introduction of this new platform, HFT will become a significant player, as represented by the arrival next month of Mr. Edgar Perez, who will present The Speed Traders Workshop 2012 Warsaw, "How Algorithmic and High Frequency Traders Leverage Profitable Strategies to Find Alpha in Equities, Options, Futures and FX" (http://www.TheSpeedTradersWorkshop.com), May 11.

The shadow people of the investing world, today's high-frequency traders have decidedly kept a low profile, until now.
