  • Lexington, KY (1888PressRelease) August 26, 2011 - This summer, PODS Lexington teamed up with the Lexington Art League (LAL) to bring cutting edge mobile art installations to the state of Kentucky. Local artists transformed three PODSŪ containers into interactive works of modern art which traveled to various locations around the Lexington area.

The first PODSŪ container was on display at the Loudoun House lawn where viewers experienced the work of Annie Strader and Matt Weedman which highlighted a unique portrayal of manmade objects surrounded by nature. The container exhibits were on display in the community for two months before being featured at the 36th annual American Founder's Bank Woodland Art Fair on August 20th and 21st where attendees marveled at the artistic work of these unusual galleries.

"We've had an exciting relationship with our local PODS moving and storage location; they have graciously supported the Art League in the past," said Stephanie Harris, LAL executive director. "When the idea of creating and displaying this unique style of traveling art, we knew PODS was our answer."

PODS Lexington also returned to the AFB Woodland Art Fair with a PODSŪ container equipped with an American Founder's Bank ATM to provide secure access to money for fairgoers to use throughout the event.

"It is truly an honor to work with such a wonderful and thriving non-profit in the community," said David Kocon, PODS Lexington franchise owner. "We enjoy giving back to the community and were eager to jump on board with the idea of transforming our containers into art. Why not?"

The Lexington Art League (LAL) is one of several organizations that have used PODSŪ containers as a canvas for artistic passion. In Los Angeles, the Little Tokyo Design Week featured 16 containers which were morphed into small galleries that focused on design and technology from Japan. Other locations such as Tampa Bay, Florida and Houston, Texas have also participated in the mobile art trend by creating an artistic experience from a PODSŪ storage container.
