PODS(R) of Houston Provides Logistical Support to Act as Santa’s Sleigh for Operation Stocking Stuffer, Dec. 21
Moving and storage company teams up with Houston Fire Department to collect and distribute toys to over 4,000 families in need.
- Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) December 05, 2017 - PODS Houston has donated 20 safe and secure PODS containers to act as Santa’s sleigh for the Houston Fire Department’s Operation Stocking Stuffer toy drive this holiday season. From Friday, Nov. 17, through Monday, Dec.18, a flurry of red and white PODS containers will be placed at various fire department locations throughout the greater Houston area to store toys donated by residents.
On Dec. 21, the PODS containers will be lined up to create a holiday “shopping” village, with each PODS container serving as a “room” for toys sorted by age group and gender. Thousands of families, many of whom will get in line the night before, will wind their way through the line while Santa’s helpers aka Operation Stocking Stuffer volunteers scurry from PODS container to PODS container to fill their orders. This highly visual community outreach event is expected to serve 5,000 families and distribute over 300,000 toys and gifts.
“We couldn’t do this without the support of PODS; they provide all of the logistical support to store and transport hundreds of thousands of toys each year. After Hurricane Harvey, we anticipate the need will be greater than ever this year and are thankful to have PODS by our side to ensure we can distribute as many toys as possible to families in need.”
Since 2012, PODS Houston has partnered with Operation Stocking Stuffer to donate the use of its PODS containers and help spread the holiday cheer to thousands of children in need.
