  • Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) March 30, 2018 - For the seventh year, PODS® Houston, a moving and storage company, is providing a different type of “canvas” to inspire a unique and portable art concept among local Montgomery County artists and members of the community.

The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, taking place on April 7-8 at the Woodlands Town Center, is under the direction of Because Art Matters, the year-round community and education outreach program of The Woodlands Arts Council. Members of the Woodlands Art League invite festival attendees to join them in transforming a utilitarian PODS Container into a colorful, free blooming garden fence. Delight in painting native Texas flowers and plants that are suited to the Montgomery County ecology attracting wildlife, bees and butterflies.

“We are excited to be educating the public about the importance of art education and awareness in the community through art-centric events and experiences like this,” said Wendy Paynter, Development Director for The Woodlands Arts Council and The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival. “Visitors to the PODS Mural Project will learn technique through hands-on guidance from experienced artists from the area.”

PODS® has a rich history of being involved with many community-based art events nationwide. They are honored to continue their support and active involvement for the arts community through The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.

“It’s critical that art opportunities continue to be readily available in our communities in order to promote self-expression and creativity,” said Timothy Preston, Vice President and General Manager of PODS® Houston. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival and seeing the new mural created.”

With this year’s theme reflecting Springtime in The Woodlands, visitors and artists are encouraged to engage and create art reflecting this year’s vibrant theme on the PODS Container. “I think everyone can say we are ready for spring after this year’s winter season so flowers, butterflies, blue skies and more will be featured on the PODS canvas,” said Lauren Coombs, President of The Woodlands Art League.

Adult weekend passes for the festival are $15.00 ($17.00 at the gate) Children 12 and under are admitted free.
