PodM2M Enables Kali Care to Expand IoT Remote Medication System on a Global Scale
Big Data Analysis of Patient Data Accelerates Clinical Trials and Improves Treatment.
- (1888PressRelease) June 06, 2018 - PodM2M (a division of Pod Group), a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) specializing in global IoT/M2M data connectivity solutions, and Kali Care, a Silicon Valley-based provider of remote patient monitoring systems have signed an agreement enabling Kali Care to deploy PodM2M’s global connectivity to expand its medication monitoring system into new markets.
The Kali Care platform enables secure, reliable monitoring of medication for patients with chronic diseases. Currently around half of chronic disease medications are not taken as prescribed by the doctor. This is estimated to cause at least 10% of hospitalizations, and cost the American healthcare system almost $300 billion a year.* In addition, the failure to adhere to prescriptions means that medical data from clinical trials becomes unreliable.
Kali Care provides connected medication and advanced data analytics to the health ecosystem, giving more reliable information to healthcare professionals, and enabling patients to manage their own medication. As the solution deals with millions of data points and caters to distinct users with different requirements, Kali Care needs a connectivity solution that allows the business to expand outside the US, without compromising the efficacy of the systems or the security of medication data.
PodM2M’s mission-critical connectivity solution is an ideal fit for Kali Care’s requirements, due to its global multi-network coverage, including over 600 networks in 185 countries and resilient “no single point of failure” network topology. The SIM cards connect to the best signal on device start-up and thereby swap networks if signal is lost, ensuring maximum uptime, vital for critical, real-time data transfer. End-to-end network security, a comprehensive management and billing platform and 24/7 technical support were other factors that led to the decision by Kali Care to deploy PodM2M’s connectivity solution.
“We are using Pod SIMs to rapidly expand our global footprint. They are even able to accommodate our needs in several remote locations where it is difficult to arrange for cellular data. This allows our fleet of devices to reliably communicate from wherever they are, with minimal effort on our end,” commented Navid Afsarifard, co-founder of Kali Care.
Sam Colley, CEO Pod Group USA added, “We are delighted to be working with Kali Care to help them extend their global footprint. Our connectivity solution has been especially designed for remote and mission critical applications such as Kali Care’s digital medication platform. The combination of global, multi-network coverage, resilient connectivity and advanced security gives the centralized control required to quickly and reliably scale the application into new global markets.
