PMQ Pizza Magazine Celebrates National Pizza Week With #Followthepizza Giveaway
PMQ Pizza Magazine is starting 2014 off right with a celebration of pizza and giving. To commemorate National Pizza Week, we have started a unique experiment of random acts of pizza giving. We will follow the pizza trail for one year using social media.
- (1888PressRelease) January 11, 2014 - To get the process started, we have randomly selected five people this week to receive a free pizza courtesy of PMQ from throughout the country. In turn, each recipient is encouraged to order a free pizza for another person (it can be a friend, an acquaintance, a person in need or a total stranger - anyone you choose), with the goal of establishing a long chain of pizza-giving in the social media world. Using the hashtag #followthepizza, we will see if the trail picks up - and branches out - online.
Meanwhile, PMQ encourages people to start their own random act of pizza kindness by simply sending out the instructions below with a pizza donation to anyone they choose.
We randomly selected recipients in Nevada, New Jersey, Virginia, Michigan and Mississippi to start. We reached out to PMQ subscribers that provide pizza delivery to help us find recipients. Within hours we had a great response.
The first pizza went out with the help of MonAlyssa Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. They liked the idea so much that they doubled the offer with a free pizza of their own to a customer. Up next was Pulcinella Pizzeria in Fort Collins, Colorado who provided a pizza to a surprise customer. Melting Pot Pizza in Royal, Virginia surprised a recent college graduate. Today, #Followthepizza surprises are expected at Sal & Mookie's in Jackson, Mississippi and Chubby Charlie's Pizza in Commerce, Michigan.
Taking it upon themselves, Rio Vista Pizza Factory in Rio Vista, California also participated providing their own free pizza out to a customer.
Instructions to send out with a free pizza:
You just received this pizza as a token of someone's goodwill. Maybe you were randomly chosen; maybe you have touched this person's life. Regardless, it's yours to enjoy.
We believe that simple gestures, such as sharing a pizza with a stranger, show compassion and humility, which can be missing in our daily struggles. We want to follow these random acts of pizza kindness all of over our great country. If you received a pizza, please take a picture of yourself and/or the pizza and post to one of our social media sites listed below. Please use the hashtag #followthepizza with your post. And if you should feel moved to pass along this gesture, please also send these instructions to your recipient so we can all #followthepizza.
You can post your photo on any social media with the #followthepizza hashtag, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,Tumblr, Google + or Pinterest. You can also email us your photos or notification that you received a pizza to melanie {at} pmq.com or by snail mail to: PMQ Pizza Magazine, 612 McLarty Rd, Oxford MS 38655.
