PMET Inks Pact with QNP of Brunei
PMET announces today that it has signed a technology agreement with QNP of Brunei.
- (1888PressRelease) November 14, 2013 - Pittsburgh Mineral & Environmental Technology, Inc. (PMET) announces signing a cooperative agreement with QNP of Brunei to provide mercury removal and recovery technology for applications in the oil and gas industry.
PMET, thru its Mercury Recovery Services subsidiary, has extensive on site field remediation experience in removing and recovering mercury from various contaminated residues. Examples include removal of mercury from soils impacted along the gas pipeline system, mercury recovery from nonferrous smelter sludges, and mercury recovery from impacted chlor-alkalai wastes and impacted process equipment.
The MRS process is considered BDAT by the US EPA and is a recycling process rather than a waste treatment process.
PMET will provide a technology package, equipment design, and operational training and start up assistance to QNP.
William Sutton, EVP of PMET points out that "..mercury is commonly found with oil and gas and is problematic with regard to degradation of process equipment as well as toxic worker exposure. As a result of this agreement, QNP will provide mercury decontamination services to the oil and gas industry in the Indonesia region."
