Plutopia Productions Chief Digital Officer Predicts Internet's Future for IEEE Central Texas Consultants Network
Renown internet culture expert Jon Lebkowsky provides a roadmap to the future of the internet at recent Central Texas Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) meeting.
- (1888PressRelease) March 01, 2011 - Internet pioneer Jon Lebkowsky was a featured speaker at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) Central Texas Consultants Network meeting this Wednesday evening in Austin, Texas. Amongst the group of his peers and followers, Lebkowsky spoke compellingly about the past, present and future of the Internet. In his presentation, he specifically analyzes the evolution to-date of the Internet, outlining how it has evolved from its early days as the research-oriented ARPAnet to its current state as an application-heavy social hub. He then points out the direction he believes the Internet is heading -- including what he views as the coming "noosphere" - and predict future trends and advancements in network use scenarios and network neutrality issues. "Society's development impacts the Internet and vice versa." says Lebkowsky. "It's an interesting dynamic, and dramatically changes how we interact with each other and with information. The future of the internet is also, inherently, the future of humanity." To view slides for the presentation, visit http://slidesha.re/ieR5nt.
Lebkowsky, who in 1992 co-founded Fringeware, one of the first companies to embrace ecommerce and online community, has also been co-founder and President of EFF-Austin, and helped create Whole Foods' e-commerce platform in the late 1990s. He continues blazing trails, recently launching the Plutopia News Network in conjunction with his involvement as Chief Digital Officer for the future-focused entertainment and production company Plutopia Productions, whose annual flagship event Plutopia takes place on Monday, March 14th as an evening event of the SXSW Interactive conference.
