The business was conceived by founder Clifton Flack when he constantly found himself unable to make arrangements for his kids since both relationships and contact details of friends parents were managed by his wife.
"I'd have to call my wife and let her deal with the ping-pong communication with other mom's. I'd see here on whatsapp, texting, email and Facebook, having to make small talk and then arrange a playdate" explained Clifton.
The application has been released in beta for both iPhone and Android devices and lets parents choose which child and friend together with a time and location. Once approved the event is automatically synced to the calendar of both sets of parents.
The idea is that parents can begin to move on from the stress of arranging a playdate now and instead start planning in advance and keeping track of all events.
Playdate by Jago is a free app for single-users with a small fee for upgrading to multi-user. This upgrade allows moms to share kids profiles and groups with spouses, grandparents and nannys meaning all caregivers can be kept in the loop and have the authorization to make arrangements.
"We found that more and more it's not just the mom, or primary care giver' involved in taking care of the kids. However, without contact details it's impossible for everyone to get involved. Sharing contact details together with hobbies and allergies of each child gives parents the power to share the responsibility in an organized way. In the workplace organization and planning are paramount, this should be the same at home and this is what we've set out to achieve" said Clifton Flack.
Behind the app lies a unique relationship management technology that maps the relationships, roles and data of each user.
"Finally, and for some users crucially, we realized that while many parents make use of multiple apps such as Facebook, Whatsapp, Email and SMS to arrange playdates they actually create more noise and chaos than solutions to a need.
