- (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2011 - Jerald Honeycutt is a member of the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame. He has been selected as ' the Louisiana Basketball Player of the Year ' on two occasions. At Tulane University he is the school's all-time scoring leader--2,209 points. He also ranks first in free-throws at Tulane--434. Honeycutt doesn't focus on individual accolades though; rather, his sense of accomplishment flows from the winning tradition that he and his teammates boldly reintroduced at Tulane:
"...[B]ut when I look back, there are not many guys in colllege who have three consecutive 20-plus win seasons, so I guess we did okay. "
During the 1997 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks selected Jerald Honeycutt in the second-round (10th pick ). Sparingly utilized as a rookie, he appeared in 38 games. The following season he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. After the season ended in Philadelphia he opted to sign in Greece. He has also played in Russia, Venezuela and Korea in subsequent seasons.
Jerald Honeycutt has played in Japan since the 2005-06 season. Playing for OSG Phoenix, he was selected as ' Center of the Year ' , throughout the league, during his first season in Japan. He played for Mitsubishi the following two seasons in Japan, through 2008. Panasonic's basketball club acquired his rights for the following three seasons. In 2011, he is a newly signed member of Toyota's basketball club.
