Brooker Creek Preserve Environmental Education Center is a well-known destination for nature lovers for all ages. Programs it offers vary from exhibit Windows, environmental programs, wildest places to hike, and many more that are all offered for free.
Brooker Creek Preserve is located at 3940 Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs, just north of Pinellas County, protects over 8,700 acres of natural ecosystems. Here is a list of their offered programs:
Exhibits
"Windows to Our Wildest Place" is a hands-on educational exhibit where visitors are assisted to understand how Florida has changed through time and the ecological marks left by those changes. The program is open from 9:00 am up to 4:00 pm, Thursdays through Saturdays and closed on Sundays through Wednesdays and including holidays.
Time for Reading
Youngsters of ages 3 to 5 years old can enjoy the story time that is designed to introduce to them the wonders of the natural world. This is followed by games, crafts, and other hands-on activities. This 45 minute program is held during Thursdays at 10:30 am.
For the Serious Hikers
This program is particularly designed for guests to discover the preserve's different bird species and collect observational data. It is advised to attend the program with closed-toes shoes, a hat, water, binoculars, and spotting scopes as well as cameras for this thrilling adventure.
Class for Parent and Kid
This program gives the parent and the child a various self-guided environmental games & activities. Children will also have a chance to ask question at the open classroom between 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. There will also be volunteers who will be able to assist in answering the questions at the education center.
