Pickles Wear Ribbons This Holiday Season
New York Deli Pickle Wins Top Award for Kosher Dill - plus Two Other Honors.
- (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2010 - Glen Cove, New York - New York Deli Pickle's Kosher Dill took top honors in the Best Dill Category at the 13th Annual Rosendale International Pickle Festival, attended by more than 7,000 pickle fans this past weekend. They also won the third place ribbon for their Horseradish Kosher Dill while the Spicy Kosher Dill variety won 3rd in the Spicy Pickle category.
The New York Deli Pickle booth was mobbed, as visitors sampled the award-winners and enjoyed the company's signature "brine shooters" and PPB chips (peanut butter on a spicy pickle chip). The Saratoga Peanut Butter Company provided complimentary spreads for the treat, which was pronounced, "So weird, yet so good" by Festival attendees.
Ron and Nick Horman Jr., cousins who manage New York Deli Pickle, were thrilled with the accolades and with the event in general. "Although we are both of the social media generation, we love to see our customers face-to-face and hear what they have to say about our pickles." In fact, tasters who fill out their satisfaction surveys are eligible to win an iPad. "Within a few months of the launch, our pickles have been picked up by Fairway, Adams Fairacre Farms, Fresh Direct, and a number of other retailers. "Pickle fans love them…retailers love them…and now the Rosendale judges love them!" exclaimed Ron Horman after collecting his ribbons. "The pickle people have spoken!"
At the Festival, New York Deli Pickle also encouraged consumers to contribute their own recipes to the first online collaborative pickle cookbook, www.picklepowertothepeople.com.
