  • Indianapolis, IN (1888PressRelease) August 29, 2012 - This is the fourth year Mr. Jones has exhibited his work at the Kentucky State Fair, which is going on until August 26, 2012 at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Louisville, KY.

The photograph, which shows a lone tree on top of a little hill in a large field, is sepia toned and reflects the "grungy" look Mr. Jones is known for using. He is a huge fan of this style and feels it "depicts some attitude and is a little dark and mysterious."

The photo of the tree, which Mr. Jones took on State Road 62 between Charlestown and Jeffersonville, won in the Monochrome Black and White or Toned category in the accomplished division. The Kentucky State Fair defines accomplished as an artist who makes and sells photos, teaches photography, or operates a commercial studio.

Mr. Jones, an Indiana native with a life-long passion for photography, owns and operates Thurman Jones Photography, which he established in 2011 to offer portrait and photography services to families, high-school seniors, and pets in Southern Indiana.

In addition, Mr. Jones won first place for his photo "A Different Perspective" at this year's Indiana State Fair, which was held in Indianapolis from August 3-9, 2012. The photo won in the Black and White or Toned Nature/Flora category for the non-professional division.

Mr. Jones has won numerous other awards for his photography, including the 2011 Charlestown State Park Amateur Photo Contest in the Wildlife and Nature category and the 2012 Clark County Soil and Water Conservation District Photo Contest in the Landscape, On the Farm, and Wildlife categories.

Mr. Jones' work has also been featured in the Indiana Preservationist (May-June 2010), Southern Indiana Landmarks through the Viewfinder traveling photo exhibit (2010), and the Kentucky State Fair (2009-2011).
