Opening and party scheduled to unveil artist's recent work, entitled "Water Dance."
(1888PressRelease) November 08, 2016 - Guy Lyman Fine Art today announced that the latest work of New Orleans photographer Kathy Gamble Walkley will be unveiled at an opening on Saturday November 12, 2016, from 6 - 9 p.m. The gallery is located at 3645 Magazine Street in New Orleans.
The series of semi-abstract images, entitled "Water Dance," center around colors and objects reflected on the surface of water, and were shot primarily on the Tchefuncte River and other local bodies of water following Walkley's return to Louisiana in 2014.
Walkley learned photography as a teen while growing up in New Orleans, taking classes from artist Tim Trapolin and photographer/potter Dawson Nesbitt. She went on to shoot professionally and to have her work exhibited in Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee and New Mexico as she moved with her family over the years.
Walkley says the Water Dance series combines two of her passions: photography and being near water. "Every time I'm near a body of water, I literally sigh. I feel a sense of peace that cannot be explained. My spirit is uplifted," she says. She attributes her attraction to water to her upbringing near the Mississippi River and visits to the Gulf Coast, Lake Pontchartrain and North Shore communities such as Folsom and Covington.
The opening will be held from 6 - 9 p.m. on November 12th at Guy Lyman Fine Art, 3645 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA, 70115. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please contact gallery manager Lindsey Roussel at (504) 899-4687 or info ( @ ) guylymanfineart dot com dot
