  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2011 - Philadelphia trial attorney Rhonda Hill Wilson, Esq. on Jan. 19, 2011, addressed Widener University School of Law students as a speaker in the school's Local Leader Series. The series, jointly sponsored by the Delaware Student Bar Association and the law school faculty, taps prominent industry leaders to speak about their experiences as attorneys and share words of wisdom with law students. Hill Wilson encouraged series attendees to become trial lawyers, as it affords lawyers the opportunity to advocate for the rights of people who cannot stand up for themselves.

"During my address, I was pleased to learn that law students view trial lawyers as advocates for their clients rather than adhering to negative stereotypes about trial attorneys," stated Hill Wilson. "I view myself as a warrior for the downtrodden, helping them successfully navigate an often inequitable legal system in their pursuit of justice."

During the program, Hill Wilson noted that becoming a skilled trial lawyer requires strength, integrity and hard work. She encouraged students to above all, "Be excellent at what you do." Hill Wilson also fielded questions from the students and faculty members. She addressed the unique challenges inherent in being an African American woman working as a litigator, the origin of her passion for plaintiffs' rights and what prompted her to launch her own law firm.
