Philadelphia Orchestra Members Participate in Marriage Ceremony of Philadelphia International Music Festival Students
Star PIMF Pupils Madison Marcucci and Robert Day III Helped Commemorate the Festival's 15th Year with a Wedding Ceremony at Bryn Mawr's Fabled Thomas Great Hall.
- (1888PressRelease) August 28, 2012 - The Philadelphia International Music Festival (PIMF) is proud to announce that Cristian Macelaru, Assistant Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, recently conducted the music at the wedding ceremony for two of the Philadelphia community's prominent classical music students, Madison Marcucci (violinist, age 25) and Robert Day III (cellist, also 25). Marcucci and Day are 12-year participants in the Philadelphia International Music Festival's exclusive student performance program, making them two of the festival's earliest participants.
In addition, Kimberly Fisher, Principal Second Violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, performed at the ceremony as a surprise gift to Marcucci, one of Fisher's prize students since the age of nine. Fisher serves as Artistic Director at PIMF. The orchestra that performed at the ceremony consisted of young musicians from the prestigious Philadelphia International Music Festival program.
Marcucci is poised to become a celebrated classical musician in the Philadelphia region in her own right, having recently graduated from Julliard, and having performed with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra since childhood. In addition, Day studied with Philadelphia Orchestra Cellist Gloria dePasquale as a child, and recently graduated from Princeton University where he performed with the school's orchestra for four years.
The wedding ceremony took place on June 23, during the 15th Anniversary session of the Philadelphia International Music Festival, which ran from June 16 to June 29, 2012. Their wedding day, romantically enough, also fell on the seventh anniversary of the couple's first date. The Philadelphia International Music Festival hosts three study and performance programs per year for musicians aged eight through college. These one- and two-week programs take place in Bryn Mawr, PA; Miami, FL; and Groznjan, Croatia. Sessions feature members of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
The couple was married at the Bryn Mawr College's historic Thomas Great Hall. Bryn Mawr College is the host location of the Festival, and the Thomas Great Hall recital venue is the site of the Festival's performances and programs throughout the year.
"We're honored to help celebrate the union of these two outstanding young talents, who have called the Festival home for more than a decade," said Sandra Marcucci, one of the Festival's founders. "We're overwhelmed not just by this couple's musical history together and their immersion in the orchestra's extended community, but also by the extraordinary Philadelphia love story that their marriage represents."
PIMF began as a 40-student program founded in the home CEO Sandra Marcucci. It has grown in 15 years to include three camp programs in two states and two countries, with more than 300 young musicians attending programs over the course of 2012 alone. This year marked the festival program's largest attendance count ever.
